Cody Richardson, Jr. discovered his passion and desire to work in the ranching industry while working on the Scharbauer Ranch alongside his father. He attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, TX, where he participated in campus activities and dayworked for local ranches. Cody was the president and treasurer of the Ranch Horse Club and competed in collegiate SHTX shows. He was also the Parliamentarian for the Student Government Association for one year, where he kept the meetings flowing in an orderly fashion and following proper procedure.

After graduating Sul Ross Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Business Administration in May 2017, Cody began working part-time for the Scharbauer Ranch. While there he was able to gain more in-depth experience caring for a ranch in its day to day operations. He also dayworked for other ranches and a preconditioning yard, where he was able to help ready cattle to be placed in a feedyard. In March 2019, he became the Camp Man on the Frying Pan Ranch at Kermit, TX. His duties were to maintain and care for the cattle, records, and infrastructure on his part of the ranch. In July, he left the Frying Pan to attend the King Ranch Institute’s Masters Program to pursue his career goals of becoming a ranch manager and leader in the ranching industry.
