Position Description:

We are searching for the right person to join our team and be our Bull Development Manager. We are looking for a dedicated and hardworking individual who is willing to put in the necessary time and effort. This role involves a variety of tasks, and conditions can change rapidly so being a problem solver is important. An adaptable person who can handle diverse responsibilities, from repairing fences to bull health to sale preparation is an asset. We want a team player who works well with other ranch employees and interns. Being open-minded, a good listener and willing to help or teach can contribute to a positive work environment. Effective communication is important for coordinating tasks with all team members, relaying information about animal health or behavior, and interacting with cooperators, customers, and visitors to the ranch. At R.A. Brown Ranch we are always trying to learn new things and advance our knowledge in our industry. We need a self-starter who is willing to learn new things and help fulfill our mission statement:

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in cattle development and management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Excel and creating spreadsheets is helpful.
  • Feedyard experience is an advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee the health and development of bulls.
  • Manage tests on bull performance, fertility, carcass, and soundness.
  • Understand how to develop bull longevity on our high-roughage, corn-free diet.
  • Helping with ranch tasks, improvements, and upkeep of facilities.
  • Sale prep including sale videos, pictures, clipping, and penning.
  • Able to operate feed trucks, hydraulic chutes, and heavy equipment.
  • Educating visitors and teaching interns.
  • Creating daily feed sheets using Excel.
  • Communicating with livestock nutritionists.

Estimated Salary: Dependent on experience.
