Chase Crandall

Emily StriblingBio's, Graduate Students, Master's Program

Raised on the family ranch, Crandall Farms in Springville, Utah, Crandall has been involved in the ranching industry his entire life. Upon graduation from Utah State University in 2014 with a degree in mechanical engineering, Crandall worked as a product engineer for Powder River Livestock Equipment until returning to the ranch in 2018. Since his return, Crandall has been managing the replacement heifer herds and hay operation.

Continuing education is a priority for Crandall which led him to attend Ranching for Profit in January of 2020 where he met KRIRM alum Lee Creech, who introduced him to the program. Crandall says, “The most important thing I hope to gain from my experience at KRIRM is to better manage the business side of ranching.” In discussing future challenges of the industry Crandall shares, “the biggest challenge in ranching is being able to make a profit. This is key to the future of ranching, both for ranches to continue to function as well as having future ranchers want to be a part of the industry.” With the long-term goal of returning to the family ranch, he would like to be able to grow and expand the operation in a profitable manner.

Crandall has relocated to Kingsville, Texas with his wife, Stephanie and their three children; Eleanor (7), Wyatt (5) and Chloe (1).

Crandall holds the Clement Family Endowed Fellowship as a graduate student at KRIRM.
