Jeff Young
General Manager – Ensign Ranches
Jeff Young, a respected agricultural leader with more than 30 years of experience in livestock production, farming, ranch management, and agricultural land stewardship.
Jeff has served as General Manager of Ensign Ranches since 1995, where he oversees livestock, farming, and feeding operations across Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. His responsibilities include managing a large commercial cowherd, three backgrounding feedlots, and approximately 3,000 acres of irrigated farmland. He also oversees extensive private lands and works closely with the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, and State and Institutional Trust Lands.
Jeff began his career in 1993 managing a 700-head cow/calf operation and 1,300 acres of irrigated farmland in southeast Idaho. His education includes both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Brigham Young University, with an emphasis on animal science, management, and production agriculture.
Beyond his work at Ensign Ranches, Jeff has been deeply involved in agricultural leadership and advocacy. He served six years on the Eastern Summit County Agricultural Preservation Board and has served as President of both the Summit County Farm Bureau and the Utah Cattlemen’s Association.
Throughout his career, Jeff has combined hands-on agricultural experience with a commitment to responsible land management, sound business practices, and strengthening Utah’s agricultural communities.
