Mia Doering
Graduate Student – Class of 2028
Amelia “Mia” Doering is an Australian agricultural professional with a strong foundation in both family ranching, beef production, and large-scale, corporate agriculture.
Raised near Moree, New South Wales, Mia grew up on her family’s diverse farming operation, including a Santa Gertrudis seedstock enterprise, commercial cattle herd, and cropping operation. She developed an early understanding of breeding, grazing management, animal welfare, and the balance among production, land management, and people.
Mia spent four years working across remote stock camps and contracting operations throughout the Kimberley while completing her university studies online (due to COVID-19).
For the past two years, Mia has worked with Consolidated Pastoral Company (CPC), one of Australia’s largest agricultural portfolios, as a Safety & Welfare Business Partner. Traveling extensively across large-scale pastoral operations, she worked alongside station management teams to strengthen safety culture, training and leadership development, communication, animal welfare, and operational performance.
As the 2024 R.J. Kleberg Scholar for the Santa Gertrudis Breeders (Australia) Association, Mia completed a nine-week study tour in the United States, based at King Ranch in South Texas. She immersed herself in the ranch’s heritage and operations, gaining insight into the history of the King Ranch, Santa Gertrudis cattle, Quarter Horses, and the people and values that underpin the enterprise. The tour also included time with Santa Gertrudis Breeders International (SGBI), visits to diverse stud ranches, and concluded with the NCBA Cattle Industry Convention & Trade Show. It was also where she was first introduced to KRIRM, and the experience strengthened her connection to Texas and the global beef industry.
Mia is pursuing her Master’s at KRIRM to strengthen connections between the Australian and U.S. beef industries, build a global network across the beef sector, and contribute to the future of agriculture through strong leadership, collaboration, and relationships – with people at the core.
