Position Title: Ranch Manager

Description of Operation:
Family-owned ranching operation is seeking an experienced Ranch Manager to oversee all aspects of ranch operations, including but not limited to cow/calf, stocker cattle, and wildlife management and land stewardship in the South Texas climate. This is a hands-on leadership position that requires strategic thinking, resource negotiation, and the ability to manage both people and property with integrity and efficiency.
The position also includes an opportunity but not a requirement for spouse employment.
- Supervision of employees, contractors and maintenance operations for owners residence.
- Assistance with hunting guests.
- Additional duties as requested by owner.
This is a family-owned ranch and owners frequently visit the ranch.
Qualifications:
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred), conversational Spanish a necessity.
- Proven experience in ranch management, preferably in South Texas or similar semi-arid climates.
- Education preferred: TCU Ranch Management Program, Texas A&M–Kingsville Ranch Management, or equivalent training and/or experience.
- Strong recordkeeping, organizational, and computer skills.
- Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Management skills to efficiently operate a 600 to 1,000 head cattle operation and a complimentary stocker cattle program.
- Skilled in handling cattle horseback and cow herd management including herd health and nutrition
- Understanding of Livestock Key Performance Indicators and related recordkeeping.
- Monitor and move cattle through a rotational grazing operation based on an established grazing plan.
- Experience with weaning and preconditioning ranch calves (including health protocols).
- Ability to implement pasture management and improvements including brush control and individual plant treatment, a detailed grazing plan, track inventory by pasture and provide ownership with a monthly assessment of range conditions.
- Experience managing a recreational wildlife enterprise.
- Experience with heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster strong working relationships with employees, family, contractors, vendors, and community partners as a collaborative team player.
- Supervision of 3 to 6 full and part time employees.
- Maintain accurate ranch records, including cattle inventories, grazing rotations, expenses, lease agreements, organize and coordinate ranch schedules, supply orders, and staff assignments.
- Oversee cow/calf operations, supervising breeding, calving, weaning, stocker program, preventive herd health protocol, nutrition (winter supplementation and mineral) and marketing of calves and market cows/bulls.
- Develop and implement grazing plans for benefit of livestock and rangeland improvement.
- Manage the wildlife enterprise for family enjoyment. Includes guiding trophy deer and quail hunts. Schedule and coordinate dog handlers which the ranch outsources. Responsible for maintaining hunting logs and harvest information and oversee TPWD regulations.
- Operate and maintain ranch equipment including maintenance logs.
Estimated Salary & Benefits:
- This position requires full-time residency on the ranch, with housing and utilitiesprovided.

- Ranch Manager $65,000 to $75,000
- Spouse $25,000 to $35,000
