Position Title: Ranch Foreman
Name of Ranch/Business: Greenwood Valley Ranch- a division of C-M Ranches
Location: Mountain Home, Texas
Position Description: The Ranch Foreman is a full-time, on-site working supervisor responsible for all infrastructure, equipment, brush management and property maintenance on a high-fence ranch. While this role does not include game or hunting management responsibilities, the Foreman is tasked with carrying out routine hunting and game-related duties as directed by the Farm & Ranch Hunting Manager. This includes essential fieldwork such as maintaining feeders, filling water stations, preparing hunting blinds, guide and supervise guests, aid in recovery of large game, skinning and quartering of animals, record and track harvested and wounded animals, and supporting the setup for hunting activities.
In addition to leading and developing a small ranch hand team, the Foreman provides direct operational support to the Hospitality Manager. This includes ensuring roads, grounds, recreation areas, and facilities are maintained at a standard that enables exceptional guest experiences.
Qualifications:
Required
- 2+ years of experience in ranch, farm, or property maintenance (supervisory experience preferred).
- Proficiency with ranch tools, vehicles, and equipment.
- Basic skills in mechanical repair, fencing, carpentry, and light plumbing or electrical work.
- Ability to manage a physically demanding workload in varied outdoor conditions.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred
- Familiarity with game ranch operations.
- Welding, irrigation, or light construction experience.
- CDL or heavy-equipment operation certification.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills.
Effectiveness Areas and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision
- Directly supervise, train, and mentor ranch hands and heavy equipment operator, fostering a safe and productive work environment.
- Assign daily/seasonal maintenance projects and monitor work quality.
- Coordinate schedules to meet infrastructure and guest-readiness requirements.
- Promote teamwork and skill development within the crew.
Infrastructure & Property Maintenance
- Maintain and repair ranch fencing (including high fence), gates, ranch roads, runway, water systems, and structures.
- Operate and maintain ranch equipment, including tractors, trucks, UTVs, ATVs, implements, and heavy machinery.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and quickly address urgent repairs.
- Oversee landscaping and upkeep of grounds, recreational spaces, and guest-use areas.
- Coordinate with outside contractors for specialized projects such as irrigation, large-scale grading, or facility improvements.
Routine Game & Hunting Operations Support
- Execute routine field tasks as directed by the Farm & Ranch Division Hunting Manager, including:
- Filling and maintaining wildlife feeders and water stations.
- Setting up and maintaining hunting blinds, shooting lanes, and access points.
- Supporting game handling and preparation for guest hunting activities.
- Maintain wildlife-related equipment and infrastructure under direct instruction, ensuring readiness for hunts and guest use.
- Maintain accurate logs of fieldwork and supplies related to game operations.
Support for Hospitality Operations
- Collaborate with the Hospitality Manager to ensure access roads, picnic sites, trails, and guest-facing areas are maintained to high safety and aesthetic standards.
- Prepare facilities and grounds for events or recreational activities, including special setups.
- Respond promptly to guest-related infrastructure needs identified by the Hospitality Manager.
Coordination & Communication - Report progress, priorities, and resource needs to the Farm & Ranch Division Operations Manager.
- Maintain maintenance logs, repair records, and equipment inventory.
- Work with other departmental leads, including the Hospitality Manager and Hunting Manager, to ensure operational readiness.
Security, Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safe work practices for equipment and facilities.
- Ensure compliance with internal ranch policies and applicable regulations.
- Maintain ranch security and property access, monitor fences for breaches, respond promptly to protect valuable exotic species and assets.
