Scott Crozier was raised on a small family ranch in northeast Utah and northwest Colorado. Growing up on the ranch, he spent his time changing sprinklers, hauling hay, and tending cows. Tending cows was his favorite part because he was horseback. A passion for training horses began the summer he turned 12 when his dad gave him a 2-year-old chestnut filly to train. Since then he has trained and rode many colts for the ranch and clients.
Soon after graduating high school in 2005, Scott served a two-year mission in Japan, an experience that he cherishes, as God and religion are very important to him. Upon returning from Japan, he went to college at Utah State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science. While in college, he was blessed with the opportunity to work for a talented and successful reined cow horse trainer. This experience helped him improve his skills and deepened his love for good horses and horsemanship. Scott day worked for a variety of outfits throughout Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, and Nevada during college. The highlight, however, was his internship in Sheridan, Wyoming, for Ag Reserve’s Sheridan Ranches.
After graduating college, Scott moved home to work on the family ranch and train horses. While on the family ranch he started a horse program which lead him to attend the KRIRM ranch horse symposium in October 2018, sparking his interest in the ranch management master’s program.
However important cowboying and ranching are to him, he says that nothing beats being a husband and dad. He met his beautiful wife, Jacee, in the summer of 2017 and they were married the following spring. The day he married Jacee was the happiest day of his life, rivaled only by the day their daughter, Dixie, was born.
Scott and his family look forward to the opportunities that are ahead while attending KRIRM.
Scott holds the Clement Family Endowed Fellowship as a graduate student at KRIRM.
