Position Title: Ranch & Wildlife Manager
Name of Ranch/Business: Confidential – 3,000 acre Ranch
Location: Central Texas
Position Description: Multi-generational family ranch in Central Texas seeks an experienced Ranch Manager to oversee cattle operations, wildlife and exotic game management, hunting programs, property aesthetics, and guest hospitality across several thousand acres. The role includes direct responsibility for livestock, land stewardship, guided hunts, and preparation for family gatherings and hosted events. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated, skilled in team leadership, and passionate about sustainability, premium beef, and exceptional guest experience.
Qualifications:
- 5–15 years of experience managing ranch, livestock, or wildlife operations
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with a hands-on work ethic
- Proven ability to oversee cattle programs, including pasture management and herd health
- Experience in wildlife and exotic game management, including hunting operations
- Background in guided hunts, hospitality, or guest services preferred
- Skilled in maintenance of ranch infrastructure, equipment, and water systems
- Tech-capable: proficient with spreadsheets, cameras, GPS tools, and planning software
- Detail-oriented with high standards for property appearance and guest readiness
- Strong communicator with discretion, professionalism, and a family-oriented mindset
- Passion for sustainability, regenerative agriculture, and land stewardship
Responsibilities:
Cattle Operations:
Manage a quality-focused, direct-to-consumer beef program; oversee herd health, grazing, nutrition, and livestock handling.
Wildlife & Game Management:
Oversee native and exotic species including whitetail, Axis, Blackbuck, turkey, hogs, dove, and quail; manage breeding, habitat, and seasonal hunting logistics.
Guided Hunts & Guest Experience:
Coordinate guided hunts and guest stays; manage seasonal hunting staff, maintain blinds and processing areas, and ensure top-tier hospitality for family and visitors.
Hospitality & Family Use:
Prepare homes and grounds for family gatherings, holidays, and hosted events; uphold high standards of comfort, safety, and presentation.
Infrastructure & Equipment Oversight:
Maintain roads, fencing, water systems, ranch vehicles, and equipment; schedule preventative maintenance and coordinate contractors as needed.
Aesthetics & Beautification:
Lead property beautification efforts including landscaping, tree planting, entrances, yard maintenance, and seasonal improvements.
Sustainability & Diversified Agriculture:
Support and help implement plans for organic farming, pecans, poultry, small-scale crops, and future vineyard development.
Team Leadership:
Supervise ranch hands and seasonal labor; position open to qualified individuals or couples with the option to bring trusted team members.
Estimated Salary & Benefits: $100k+ estimated comp; $70,000 base salary + performance bonuses, housing with utilities, health insurance, ranch vehicle and fuel, beef and egg allotment, spouse/support team employment potential.
