Wagonhammer Ranches is looking for a ranch manager to oversee all ranching operations for its 2,400 head cow herd. - Experienced in cow/calf production and all aspects of ranch work
- Experienced in Word and Excel
- Ability to operate and maintain ranch related equipment. Perform basic repairs.
- Experienced working on horseback
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing a team of 7 ranch employees and 2,400 head cow herd.
- Reports directly to Owner.
- Working knowledge of cattle nutrition. Oversee the feeding program and develop feed budget in coordination with consulting nutritionist.
- Manage inventory and ordering of feed and supplies.
- Work with team members to develop and implement a grazing plan and invasive species control.
- Execute a herd health program formed in coordination with consulting veterinarians.
- Work with ownership, team members, veterinarians, nutritionist, university researchers, and other resources to improve ranch performance.
- Maintain herd inventory records, production records, etc.
- Implement preventative maintenance system on machinery.
- Communicate recommendations for capital projects and major equipment purchases to owner.
- Coordinate with the Seedstock Manager who is responsible for the breeding program and sales.
- Coordinate with the Feedyard Manager where operations and production needs overlap.
- Participate in daily operations including calving, range management, fence & equipment repairs & maintenance, cattle processing, hay production, and all aspects of ranch work.
