Position Title: Ranch Manager

Position Description: We are looking for someone to manage and oversee a commercial and registered cattle operation. Owners have been and continue to be in the cattle business for over 120 years in Florida, raising purebred Brahmans and commercial cattle.
Prairie Point Cattle is located on the beautiful Cow Creek Ranch just south of Aliceville. Owners have been in the ranching business for or over 120 years. We are in the process of building a purebred Charolais herd up to approximately 150-200 females using embryos that have been purchased or produced on the ranch. Commercial cows are used as recips and for raising terminal cross calves. It is our philosophy to treat purebred cows almost identically as our commercial herd, utilizing forages as much as possible to reduce excess feeding.
We have also been developing and breeding Town Creek Ranch’s purebred Brangus heifers and will continue through September of 2025.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and help ensure day to day responsibilities are completed.
- Cattle handling.
- Cattle supplementation.
- Set up pasture rotations.
- Use Best Management Practices to ensure that the environment is protected and conserved properly.
- Pasture management (determine fertilization, mowing, herbicide and pesticide needs).
- Grow and bale an adequate supply of hay.
- Work with NRCS on EQIP and CSP programs.
- Keep ranch clean and presentable.
Qualifications:
- Must be a good leader that works well with others and manages time wisely.
- Must be able to communicate well with employees and owners.
- Prefer to have experience in a management position.
- Must be organized and adept at keeping records.
- Must be experienced in working cattle on horseback and preferably with dogs.
- Must be quiet and easy around cattle and understand the value of low stress handling.
- Must have completed BQA certification.
- Must have some equipment maintenance skills and experience operating machinery.
- Must have a good background in managing forages.
- Ability to AI and pregnancy check are not required but would be helpful.

Estimated Salary: Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
