Position Title: Ranch Manager

Location: Pampa, Texas
Position Description: Seeking Ranch Manager for cow-calf operation in the Texas Panhandle. Candidate would be in charge of all cattle and ranch operations including machinery. In addition the candidate would be responsible for maintaining hunting habitat for mule deer, whitetail deer, prong horn and quail. Housing for Manager and immediate family, utilities
and truck for ranch use will be provided. Salary commensurate with skills and experience.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years of strong business management, including working within a budget and ability to run a profitable ranching operation.
- Candidate should be experienced in ranching conditions within the geographic area of the Texas Panhandle region. Being raised on a ranch is a plus.
- Physically able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions and be flexible with work schedule as this is not a typical 8 to 5 position.
- Skilled in riding and roping from a horse. Have ability to bring your own horse and tack.
- Have knowledge of proper medications for treating cattle. Experienced in branding, vaccinating and castrating.
- Ability to weld, operate a tractor, power tools and hand tools. In addition, ability to maintain and repair all equipment.
- Capable of working on and repairing wind and solar mills.
- Maintain and construct fencing as needed including repairing water gaps.
Responsibilities:
- Perform day to day operations required for a 300 head cow / calf operation. Includes monitoring, counting and assisting cows with calving as needed. Working cows and calves along with preg checking on a semi annual basis. Feed cake during winter months. Maintain salt and mineral program year round. Implement an ear tag program.Daily inspection of all windmills and solar mills to ensure water for cattle. Repair if possible yourself.
- Participate in strategic planning and budgeting process. Facilitate and accomplish key initiatives including owner improvement projects. Establish and implement yearling marketing program and heifer replacement program. Maintain operating costs, monitor vender costs to remain in budget. Identify areas for cutting costs. Report to owner
on a biweekly basis and provide a weekly written report of all cattle counts and activities accomplished. - Maintain integrity of pastures and land. Continue maintenance removal of cholla cactus and mesquite. Cultivate habitat and feeding program for mule deer, whitetail deer, pronghorn and quail.
- Maintain and repair as needed all fences and water gaps. Construct new fences as per strategic planning and budgeting.
- Maintain cleanliness, integrity, appearance and organization of barns and surroundings area. Keep vehicles and ranch equipment clean and maintain mechanical integrity of all tools and equipment.
- Keep owner’s house and surroundings as well as manager’s house and surroundings at guest ready level at all times.
Salary: Commensurate with skills and experience.
