Position Title: Ranch Manager

Position Description: In search of a ranch manager for OO Ranch. OO Ranch is a family owned 1700 acre ranch in west central Arkansas. The ranch currently consists of a 300 head cow/calf operation. The herd in primarily Red Angus and Red Angus cross. Ranch is fenced and cross-fenced into numerous 40-60 acre pastures.
The ranch also has 100 acres of hybrid bermudagrass fields that are used to bale and bundle small square hay bales for horse hay sales. This is in addition to the approximately 1700 round bales of hay required for the ranch herd.
The manager will be responsible for day to day care of the livestock component as well as the maintenance of the bermudagrass hay fields.
Responsibilities:
- Complete day-to-day management of the 1,700 acre ranch.
- Maintain health and productivity of the 300 cow/calf pair herd.
- The ability to maintain a quality forage program. This includes the knowledge and ability to use herbicide, fertilize pastures and hay fields, and cut hay at the proper stage of growth.
- Maintaining fences, cattle working pens squeeze chutes, various barns and other buildings and facilities.
- Supervise 2 full-time employees.
- Be a self starter and have the ability to work with little supervision. The owner lives out of state.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of and experience in cow/calf production including health care, feeding, breeding and genetics, weaning, and marketing.
- Ability to manage and produce quality forage to be used for grazing as well as hay production.
- Have Pesticide certification license or ability to obtain in a timely matter.
- Skill in operation of all types of farm equipment including trucks, trailers, tractors. hay cutters, hay balers, hay bundlers, grain drills and field sprayers.
Estimated Salary & Benefits: Salary is competitive and negotiable based on experience and education. Ranch manager house is included as well as a ranch work truck.
