Position Title: Ranch Manager

Position Description:
Onsite owner-operator is seeking a ranch manager to lead 3-4 full time cowboys and seasonal crews during fall and spring for branding and weaning. LAZY B RANCH 160+ sections, 2500 mother cows– commercial angus cross bred cattle– High Desert ranch 4000-5000ft elevation straddles New Mexico and Arizona, all one contiguous property, headquarters in the middle with 1500 head capacity feedyard. with multiple updated living quarters/homes. no live water. all pumped water and dirt tanks. must have general water pipeline maintenance/water trough installation/maintenance background and knowledge of submersible pumps. ranch raised quarter horses, 30+hd remuda.12 broodmares and 3 stallions. all natural GAP 1 certified. family owned. legacy property old “Day Ranch”.
Qualifications:
Willing to keep records and maintain GAP 1 certification, must show evidence of having kept records on previous ranches and evidence of GAP requirements. prefer college graduate and/or minimum of 5 yrs large ranch management experience, has supervisory, training and mentoring background. Able to identify a right hand person, and put teams together for “seasonal works” in spring and fall. Must also show experience with managing feed yard for weaned calves 60 day backgrounding/conditioning.
Responsibilities:
- Cattle health and supplementary needs of year round drought prone high desert ranch. Maintaining high calf crop percentages. Manage and know where the bulls are in each pasture on a monthly basis.
- Manage water systems and wells. Manage and prioritize fence maintenance. Hold cowboys/cowgirls responsible on a weekly basis for goals and projects set each week. Do side by side ride alongs with each cowboy/cowgirl MONTHLY to review cattle and bull activity.
- Maintain GAP certification and adhere strictly to BQA guidelines in all daily activities.
- Willing and able to communicate with onsite owner on a weekly basis, able to follow directions and set goals and be held accountable for goals set.
Estimated Salary: $65K-75K minimum but more is negotiable for right candidate
