Position Title: Ranch Manager
Name of Ranch/Business: HK Ranch
Location: Placedo, Texas (Victoria County)
Position Description:The Ranch Manager oversees and maintains the ranch land, cattle, and property/equipment. The Ranch Manager is responsible for identifying and prioritizing necessary activities related to ranch cattle and infrastructure.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with cattle and horses
- Ability to operate and maintain tractors, shedder, disc, and other implements
- Availability to work established work schedule – Monday to Friday approx. 40 hours/week
- Open to work weekends upon occasional request to assist with hunting and/or livestock operations (3-4 times a year)
- Ability to supervise 1-2 ranch workers and proactively determine what work needs to be done – and prioritize and communicate the plan to ranch owner
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Cattle and Horses
- Monitor cattle herd by performing daily inspections of the cattle, food, and water sources
- Identify and determine proper treatment for sick cattle – internally (on ranch) or externally (veterinarian)
- Corral cattle for vaccinations, spraying, etc. (3 times a year along with 7 – 8 day workers)
- Care for ranch horses and maintain tack and saddlery
Infrastructure
- Oversee maintenance of ranch infrastructures such as fences, roads, corrals, water systems, housing, deer blinds, and buildings, including construction, repair, and maintenance
- Maintain and operate ranch equipment: vehicles, tractors, implements, ATVs, and feeders
- Participate in ranch’s brush control activities
- As caretaker of ranch owner’s house, service water conditioner, septic system, and other house systems
- Assist with any and other ranch activities as assigned by ranch owner to aid in the development and process of ranching and wildlife operations
