Position Title: Ranch Manager/Director of Operations

Location: Reed Point, MT
Position Description: Our Current Cattle Ranch Manager is looking to retire over the next couple of years. We are searching for a highly qualified and experienced Ranch Manager to oversee operations, and would like to hire someone soon to get the lay of the land, and to be familiar with day-to-day operations before he retires. This 600 pair cow/calf operation is located west of Columbus, MT on 15,000 acres.
Responsibilities:
This position will include but is not limited to:
- Overseeing everyday ranch operations which includes livestock feeding, breeding, veterinary needs, as well as pasture management.
- Managing 3-5 staff members including training and performance management. Delegating tasks to ensure the operations of the ranch run efficiently.
- Must maintain the property such as all buildings, fencing, roadways, and fields. Will need to arrange for any repairs, upgrades, spraying, or replacements as needed.
- Maintaining equipment such as tractors, UTVs, Vehicles & Trucks. Handle all maintenance that is needed as well.
- Feeding/watering livestock, cleaning corrals/stalls/sheds, branding, tagging, and vaccinating as well.
- Land management such as pasture rotation and developing future plans, keep up BLM leases.
Qualifications:
- Flexibility to work varied hours as needed.
- Experience operating equipment onsite such as skid steers, UTV’s, Tractors and Trucks, as well as maintaining them.
- Experience with cattle such as working, feeding, calving, branding, Etc.
- Experience with horses and artificial insemination beneficial but not a requirement.
- Computer skills such as Word, Excel, scanning and emailing needed.
- Ability to prioritize daily tasks, and emergencies that may arise.
Estimated Salary & Benefits: Full medical paid, 401K, and paid time off included. Salary for Ranch Manager $85,000 – $95,000 DOE. Great newer housing provided, as well as a company vehicle.
