Position Title: Ranch Manager

Position Description:
The Ranch Manager oversees and maintains the ranch land, property & equipment, cattle, native wildlife and ensures the ranch is operating in accordance with the goals and objectives of the ranch. The Ranch Manager is responsible for identifying necessary activities related to ranch infrastructure, cattle, and wildlife. The Ranch Manager prioritizes the relative activities, coordinates with employees and management, and ensures all activities are successfully completed in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.
Qualifications:
● Candidates must have a preference for remote country living
● Ability to work weekends upon request to assist with hunting and/or livestock operations.
● Operation and maintenance of heavy equipment
● Ability to accurately solve problems
● Ability to work established work schedule
● Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, and ownership
● Ability to consider safety in all decisions
● Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities
● Ability to successfully perform the responsibilities of this position
● Must develop and master understanding of ranch organizational responsibilities for each department and abide by all policies
● Knowledge of local, state and federal laws and regulations regarding hunting
● Must be a team player and possess excellent communication skills
● Outdoor survival and first aid skills
● Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing, the ability to be an approved driver for the company and to safely operate vehicles
● Must have the ability to traverse rough terrain and work independently in harsh conditions
Responsibilities:
Infrastructure
● Maintain ranch infrastructures such as fences, ponds, roads, corals, water systems, housing, deer blinds, and buildings including construction, repair, and maintenance
● Maintain all ranch equipment including vehicles, tractors, dozers, and feeders
● Plant native grasses and perform wildlife habitat improvements
● Ranch beautification and projects including lawn mowing, weed eating, barn cleaning, vehicle cleaning
● Help maintain ALL records for hunting and cattle operations
Cattle
● Monitor cattle herd by performing visual inspections of the cattle, food, and water sources
● Develop an annual cattle plan specifically around pasture rotation, breeding and calving cycles, buying and selling. Including:
● Monitoring pasture conditions
● Corral animals for vaccinations or branding
● Transport animals to market
● Identify and determine proper treatment for sick animals
● Maintain high standards of animal welfare
Wildlife
● Ensure all animals have access to water and food
● Verify and ensure all feeders are properly filled and maintained
● Identify and determine proper treatment for sick animals
● Leads and supervises hunts during appropriate seasons
● Maintain high standards of animal welfare
● Ability to clean, cape, and quarter wildlife
Other
● Represent Brannan Ranch in a professional manner at all times
● Assist with any and other ranch activities as assigned by ranch owner to aid in the development and process of ranching and wildlife operations
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
● Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.)
● Maintains employee confidence and protects company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential
● Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
● Able to safely shoot and handle firearms
