Philip Weltmer grew up in Smith Center, Kansas on a family operation that included cow-calf, stocker, feedyard, feed mill, livestock market and row crop. Upon graduation from Kansas State University majoring in Animal Science & Industry, Philip returned home to join W & S Ranch Inc. Philip manages the registered and commercial Angus cow-calf herd and feedyard. They artificially inseminate the cow herd, retaining ownership and finishing them at the feedyard. He works alongside his grandfather Richard, father Michael, uncle Kenton and wife Jessica. Philip is on the Kansas Beef Council serving as Vice-Chair and representing them as a NCBA Federation Director. He also is seated on the Nutrition & Health sub- committee. Philip is a member of Kansas Livestock Association, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, American Angus Association and Kansas Farm Bureau. He also is a member of the KLA board of directors, local church board and Smith Center FFA Alumni board. Philip and his wife Jessica have three children Kaden (7), Korey (5) and Kaylee (4).
