Jason Small if from the Pacific Northwest. He grew up in a small agricultural community of Tekoa, Washington. He spent his youth working on wheat farms and small cow/calf operations.
Jason graduated from Washington State University with a degree in general agriculture. He has chased his passion for the cattle industry by working for a company that cares for cattle during shipments across the ocean from Hawaii to the West Coast and eventually working on a commercial cow/calf operation in Hawaii on Ponoholo Ranch. While working on the ranch Jason got involved with the local Hawaii Cattlemen’s Council and became the Membership Chair. He also became involved with the NCBA and became a member of the Young Beef Leaders group.
After seven years in Hawaii, Jason returned to Washington state and is working for Simplot. He is the Cattle Manager at one of Simplot’s Feedlots. He has been there for five years and although enjoying his role and career, is interested in managing a cow/calf operation or hopefully starting his own operation.
