Position Title: Farm/Ranch Manager

Position Description: Lowe Ranch is a 4th generation family operation located in West Texas/Eastern New Mexico. The resources and animals under our care are a top priority.
We are a progressive organization seeking a driven individual that is willing to run our operation and treat it as their own with a focus on regenerative agriculture. The candidate will live on property and manage about 16,000 acres of native pasture and 2,500 acres of irrigated cropland.
Responsibilities:
This position will include but is not limited to:
- Oversee and manage all farm/ranch operations including safety, property, facilities and employees.
- Work with owner on developing the cattle operation as well as oversee overall management of the farm/ranch. This is a hands-on position that will require manual labor with supplemental help.
- Strive to maximize profitability and operational efficiency.
- Provide strong leadership to all farm/ranch employees, fostering effective communication.
- Organize, schedule and oversee ranch projects at all locations. Coordinate the employees to work as a cohesive unit to complete the needed tasks.
- Manage the cattle operation, to include breeding, record maintenance, working with and shipping cattle, marketing and handling cattle sales.
- Manage the hay operation to include cutting, baling, accurate record keeping (inventory), condition of the grasses (nutrition, protein, etc.), marketing and sales.
- Provide animal well-being for cattle/horses and incorporate low stress handling.
- Identify and treat sick cattle, and administer basic veterinary treatments as needed.
- Repair and maintain farm/ranch equipment and infrastructures such as fences, water tanks, roads, corals, water systems, housing, and buildings.
Qualifications:

- Must be neat, organized and take good care of equipment, facilities and livestock.
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agribusiness, or related field. Master’s preferred.
- Strong financial background and deep understanding of the cattle market.
- Extensive experience in livestock production with a focus on cow/calf and backgrounding.
- High level understanding of forage and grazing management.
- Experience in farming is preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing, the ability to be an approved driver for the company, and safely operate vehicles.
- Ability and commitment to hire, mentor, train and supervise ranch personnel in their day to day activities .
- Lead by example in teamwork, work ethic, professionalism and high moral standards.
- Experience operating equipment such as tractors, trucks, skid steers, ATV’s, and skills to perform routine equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Competency with “handy-man skills,” such as plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry.
