Position Title: Farm Manager

Position Description: Fleishers Farms is looking to add a Farm Manager in Madison & Chenango Counties to our growing farm enterprises.
Work Location: Fleishers Farms in Madison & Chenango Counties, New York State
Schedule: Full-time, variable schedule
Compensation: This is a salaried position. The compensation is dependant on experience, education, work ethic, and skill.
Working Conditions: A majority of this work will be outside on our farms, as well as in an office setting.
Reports to: Feed2Fork AG Team Management
Supervisory Scope: Dependent on Experience. Competitive benefits packages are available to all Flesihers employees.
Qualifications: We are in need of a hardworking, honest, knowledgeable individual to build, manage, and develop our farm system. All of our animals are consumed by our 4 butcher shops in upscale neighborhoods of NYC. Meat quality is our number one priority.
Responsibilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Animal or Livestock Science, or a related degree and 3 – 4 years relevant experience
- Professional and respectful character with both internal and external partners
- This role might require travel to multiple work sites
- Ability to work independently on projects or within a larger team environment
- Analyze situations or compliance issues and provide solutions to issues/problems that are identified
- Ability to provide expert advice and resources to company management and employees
- Strong computer skills and the ability to interface with herd management software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Other Responsibilities:
Agronomy Management: Consult with management and industry professionals to ensure profitability and necessary yields. Crops include corn (shelled and silage) and hay (dry and ensiled) at the current time,
with expansion in mind towards more cash crops in the near future. You will be responsible for managing harvest, planting, and all other agronomic operations. The ideal candidate would have extensive experience and understanding of soil health, the ensiling process, and grain production.
Livestock Management: Feed2Fork has an incredibly high standard to meet with our animals. The right candidate will have extensive ‘real world’ experience as well as formal classroom education managing livestock, specifically beef and swine. You will be responsible for implementing and changing SOPs as seen fit including but not limited to: vaccinations, treatments, and day to day management. You will be responsible for making sure that death loss, treatment, and daily gain rates meet or exceed industry standards. You will also be responsible for ensuring these benchmarks are reached with profitability in mind.
Herd Management Software & Record Keeping Supervision: The right candidate would be extremely fluid in computer and smart phone use. Experience with microsoft excel, email, and production ag software is required. You will be held accountable for the accurate updating of software programs to manage livestock herds. We currently use PigChamp for our swine herd, and will be choosing a beef management software shortly.
Farm Compliance Programs: At Fleishers, we have our own animal welfare standards that we take very seriously. You will make sure those standards are followed, and implement husbandry protocols to ensure compliance. We also hold our campus to a high standard. On top of day to day livestock operations, you will make sure our farm campus is kept to a high standard of cleanliness with a strong emphasis placed on visual appearance of the farmstead, animal housing, and all surrounding areas.
