Position Title: Ranch/Farm Manager

Location: Canyon Lake, Texas
Position Description: Cushing Land & Cattle is nestled in the Texas Hill Country just 30 minutes North of San Antonio and 45 minutes South of Austin. The ranch consists of 2000 acres of terrain that varies from steep hilltops to rich deep soiled valleys. A small creek meanders through the property in addition to ponds constructed throughout the ranch. The ranch has an abundance of wild life and recreational opportunities.
The goal of Cushing Land & Cattle is to utilize livestock to restore the landscape. We are seeking a long-term manager with the potential for partnership to build, develop and sustain livestock enterprises and land restoration. The ranch is in the very early phases of developing enterprises. We have the capital available to make the proper investments and rapidly develop appropriate enterprises. We are seeking an ambitious, hard-working individual to build and develop a shared vision of regenerative agriculture.
Qualifications:
- Prefer 3 to 5 years experience, but not required for the right individual
- Demonstrated interest and knowledge of regenerative agriculture
- Experience with livestock
- Business knowledge and ability to develop financial plans
- Ambition to run an operation and think critically about decisions/actions
- Ability to work as a team member
- Ability to lead and manage a team
Responsibilities:
- Manage cattle enterprise using planned grazing techniques
- Administrative tasks including record keeping, budgeting, profit/loss
- Working with owner on investments and revenue opportunities
- Become a student of the land and work with owner to maximize its potential and beauty
- Introduce additional species as appropriate and economically feasible (e.g. chickens, sheep)
- Develop plans for future phases of operations (nearby leases, other revenue opportunities)
- Oversee fencing and water system projects and maintenance
- Provide reports to owner on monthly basis
