Position Title: Bear Creek Unit Manager

Location: Belfry, Montana
Position Description:The Bear Creek Unit Manager will lead the Bear Creek team on the various aspects of the ranch operations, including the conversion of traditionally managed rangeland and flood irrigated hay ground to a regeneratively focused livestock integrated operation. This role involves leading personnel, implementing strategic and adaptive grazing plans, and maintaining the overall well-being of the Bear Creek Unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily activities related to forage cultivation, livestock management, irrigation management including gaited pipe and flood irrigation as well as other general ranch operations including a seasonally utilized grow yard.
- Embrace a culture of managing Healthy Cattle and Healthy Soil
- Lead Bear Creek staff, providing guidance and support to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.
- Proficiency in electric fence usage in combination with center pivots and/or open pasture
- Stock water management and development.
- Under the direction of the General Manager develop and manage budgets, ensuring cost-effective operations and responsible resource allocation.
- Oversee grazing plans to help maximize crop health and yields as well as building soil health.
- Embrace a Safety minded culture.
- Supervise maintenance schedules for equipment, buildings, irrigation, pumps and infrastructure to ensure operational readiness. Coordinate repairs and upgrades as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or related field; or related work experience.
- Experience in leading teams demonstrating leadership and strategic planning skills.
- Strong desire for animal husbandry.
- Experience with and a passion for regenerative agriculture!
- Knowledge of modern farming equipment and technologies including pivots and irrigation.
- Problem-solving skills and adaptability to change.
