Position Title: Ranch Manager

Name of Ranch/Business: GRN Denver Tech Center

Location: Wyoming

Position Description: The Ranch Manager shall oversee all management activities of the Ranch and carry out all duties and responsibilities according to the Ranch Owners’ goals and objectives for the Ranch. He/She will supervise full-time and part-time/seasonal employees as an integrated ranch team focused on providing memorable hospitality and recreational services for the Ranch Owners and their guests. The Ranch Manager will maintain the Ranch’s historical ranching tradition, including livestock and farming operations. The Ranch Manager will serve as the Ranch Owners’ representative to the local community.

Involved Occupational Fields:

  • Guest services and recreation management for Ranch Owners and guest visits
  • Agricultural production including horses, cattle, irrigation, and haying
  • Project Management including property maintenance and miscellaneous construction projects

Immediate Supervisor:
Ranch Owners

Supervisory Authority:
The Ranch Manager customarily and regularly directs the work of all Ranch employees, contractors and consultants as needed.

Qualifications: 

  • Possess and maintain a valid State of Wyoming driver’s license and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
  • Minimum of 5 years ranch mgmt experience for a large ranch.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
In addition to other duties as may be assigned by the Ranch Owners or Family Office from time to time, the primary powers, duties, and general responsibilities of the Ranch Manager shall include:

Owner/Corporate Team:

  •  Manage according to the Ranch Owners’ vision, strategic master plans and approved budgets
  • Responsible for keeping the Ranch in a clean, orderly, and visually aesthetic condition.
  • Responsible for verbal, written, and electronic dialogue in various interfaces including meetings, conference calls, reports, and email with the owners and director of the family office
  • Provide a prompt response to requests and inquiries
  • Responsible for the financial oversight of the Ranch including the preparation of an annual budget and the effective management of it
  • Responsible for an annual, updated, Ranch Inventory Report
  • Responsible for security of buildings, property and livestock on the Ranch
  • Respect and maintain confidential information regarding the Ranch Owners and the Ranch
  • Deliver positive, proactive, community outreach on behalf of the Ranch Owners and the Ranch

Employee Team:

  • Responsible for hiring and supervision of all full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees
  • Responsible for the creation and updating of job descriptions for all ranch personnel
  • Preparation of annual planning calendars and employee work schedules
  • Maintain a positive environment of high standards, strong work ethics, and safe work practices
  • Model and support open communication throughout the Ranch team
  • Provide annual performance reviews of key personnel

Guest Services:

  • Responsible for the oversight of buildings – Ranch House, mechanical rooms, cabins, guest houses and all other Ranch infrastructure
  • Responsible for the planning and oversight of recreational activities including horseback riding, big game hunting, fishing, and other outdoor sports
  • Responsible for recruitment and supervision of food service and housekeeping staff
  • Responsible for recruitment and supervision of experienced, horse program professionals and wranglers
  • Responsible for the acquisition, inventory, and care of all recreation equipment and supplies
  • Responsible for developing and implementing safety rules and procedures for staff and guest

Project Management:

  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, budgeting, team creation and leadership
  • Responsible for grounds and buildings maintenance and the development of preventive maintenance programs that pay great attention to detail
  • Responsible for vehicle and equipment maintenance and the development of preventive
    maintenance programs that pay great attention to detail
  • Responsible for the planning and development of Ranch construction projects that could include infrastructure, fisheries, irrigation, and natural resources.

Agricultural Production:

  • Responsible for hay production either negotiated leases or an in-house production program
  • Responsible for irrigation systems operation and maintenance
  • Responsible for livestock production either leased grazing or in-house commercial programs
  • Responsible for all animal husbandry and in particular equine healthcare and safety

Professional Development:

  • Ability to maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly manner
  • Ability to recognize when and when not to be a decision maker
  • Ability to ensure that confidential matters remain confidential

Estimated Salary: $100,000+
