    Event presentations will be simultaneously delivered in-person and online via a Zoom Webinar.

    Genetic technology in the beef industry changes so rapidly, it becomes a fulltime task for producers to keep up. In this workshop, participants will revisit basic genetic principles and be introduced to the new technology. Beef cattle genetics experts will teach the use of new tools and how to apply advanced genetic technologies in the real world of seedstock and commercial cattle production.   • Learning Objectives

    • Develop breeding objectives by identifying environmental constraints, marketing alternatives, and the economic relevancy of traits
    • Decipher performance measures, adjusted data, ratios, and Expected Progeny Differences (EPDs)
    • Understand selection accuracy, confidence intervals, and strategies for multiple trait selection
    • Application of advanced genetic tools including genomically enhanced EPDs and marker-assisted management in genetic advancement
