Summary:
The lectureship on current ranching issues is a collection of special lectures put on by various experts who update participants on today's hottest topics in the ranching industry.
Learning Objectives:
Participants can expect a lecture on a current issue in the ranching industry followed by discussion to help them stay up to date on what's affecting the industry.
Instructor:
Instructors are experts in their field and lecture by special invitation.
Fees:
$300 - Covers materials, equipment, refreshments and lunches.

Past Instructors and Topics:
• 2008: Dr. Tom Jenkins, Senior Research Animal Scientist, USDA's U.S. Meat Animal Research Center. Lectured on decision support tools that ranchers use to help develop cattle breeding programs that match the restrictions of their environment.
• 2007: Dr. Dale Blasi, Professor and Extension Specialist, Kansas State University. Presented on the changing stocker enterprises on ranches.
• 2006: Dr. Dorian Garrick, Professor of Animal Science and Jay Lush Endowed Chair in Animal Breeding and Genetics, Iowa State University. Lectured on a new web-based cattle breeding selection tool that he helped develop while at Colorado State University.
• 2005: Dr. Mark Thallman, USDA's U.S. Meat Animal Research Center. Presented and discussed the status of mapping the bovine genome and its implication to cattle ranchers. Additional Info:
